Purple Trim on 06 SL55
Does anyboby else have a problem with the trim turning purple?
The dealer will replace it at no charge but...What the heck? The car is never kept outside.

Had this happen on our 04 E320 and as well as now happening to our 07 GL450. They have "addressed" it by buffing it and two weeks later, it came right back.
I have asked them to replace it at my next service and they have obliged...

I've had 2 Mercedes now & both have this color trim...My previous S430 was Brilliant Silver, & my current SL600 is black, they BOTH have this color trim.
I've seen it on several friends Merc's as well as looking @ Merc's @ dealership, personally it grows on you but I would prefer matching car color over the "Almandine Purple" I don't know why in the hell they do it, it must be some sort of cost savings to keep them all the same color during assembly
Here's a 2007 SL55 w/dreaded purple trim...
& a Black one..
W211 E55 in black w/purple trim...

Mines is also purple no matter how much you buff it out! Our former '07 E350 also has the purple straight from the dealer's lot. I guess quality control is color blind at all MB factories.
