Nav DVD, Should Have Searched the Archives

I bought a copy of the 2007.1 Nav DVD on eBay last week. I read a few previous posts that discussed the Nav improvements starting with 2006.2 so I though 2007.1 would be a good bet. I was especially interested in the updated 3D view. I inserted the 2007.1 disc which worked fine and discovered that everything looked the same as my older 2006.1. Hmmm, did I get a bad copy, did I install it incorrectly, what was wrong and where was my 3D option? After several failed attempts to make it look and display differently I gave-up. Then I did a search on W211 Nav systems and guess what, according to many posts our older Nav systems are not set-up to process and display the newer map formats. Oh the maps will display and the software is updated but you won't get 3D maps and you won't get traffic advisories, at least not on mine. So I guess the moral of the story is thoroughly do your homework first before you decide to upgrade your car. Anybody want a 2006.1 for a good price?

Wait do you not have any type of 3-D or "Birds-Eye" view as it's called? My 05' SL600 has this option crude graphics but totally 3-D type view actually a very good Navi considering Merc's Nav's are pretty dated compared to most late model Lux autos..

I'll try n' take screen shot for ya!

Wrong Forum, Sorry

I was wondering where this post went, it was intended for the W211 forum. I have not tried my 2007.1 copy in my SL55 yet but will post results when I do.
