Some Q's on SL55 Engine weight? Come w/spare tire/wheel & tire inflator kit
I'm just trying to figure out weight diferences between the SL55 vs SL600, I spoke w/URnext-Sal, he told me his SL55 didn't come w/spare tire/wheel...
I'm taking everything outt've the SL600 trunk & it's starting to add up to quite a tidy amount...Spare wheel/tire roadside tire inflator machine/tool kit etc.. looking close to 100 lbs from the factory
Also I researched the exact deffinition of Curb Weight:
So if I empty my gas tank (21.1 gallon tank) run say 2 gallons of gas only (racing purpose) each gallon of gas = roughly 6lbs full tank = 126.6 lbs 2 gallons = 12lbs= a weight savings of 114.6 lbs
I also have removed my stock mufflers they weighed about 12lbs ea. x 2 = 24lbs
I intend to empty the windshield washer resivoir, ez gallon+ = say 10lbs
The average stock Curb Weight is 4429 lbs - 100lbs +114.6 +24 +10 = weight shedding of 248.6 lbs!!! bringing my total Curb Weight to 4180.4 lbs can you say gotdayum!! If I add 20lb Voltpack battery save another 60 odd lbs..
I'm gonna run this beehawtch down the 1320' this is E55k Curb weight

This is an often misunderstood topic. There are several terms-
'Curb Weight' - Curb (Kerb) weight is the total weight of an automobile with standard equipment, oil, lubricants, coolant, a full tank of fuel and not loaded with either passengers or cargo. It is also referred to more specifically as the 'wet curb weight'.
'Dry weight' is the weight of an automobile with standard equipment, no oil, lubricants, coolant, or fuel and not loaded with either passengers or cargo.
'Race weight or Scale Weight' A race term, it is the weight as would normally be found on a set of scales while doing suspension setup, typically the Curb Weight plus a variable amount of ballast representing the driver.

Ahhh so I'm indeed onto something here where the extra 600 weight is coming from..It's nearly a 100 full lbs of tire/wheel/roadside inflator air machine/Jack tools/safety kit/Battery Jump-Kit/ packed into the trunk, Sal told me the OEM tires from Merc were run-flats on his SL55
Either way looks like the weight of the SL55/600 is VERY close now...
