SL55 SCARE

I certainly hope someone could put my mind at ease.
I am driving the SL55, been warmed up for about 10 minutes and I am
traveling about 50. Suddenly the revs rise and there is no drive, like
being in neutral. I check and it's in D, so I stop put it back to park
then back to drive, and it's ok. I think this may have happened before
maybe once, and only for a second or two, but this time I had to stop.
What would happen if you were on the Motorway/freeway doing
90 or so, I shudder to think.I had a service recently and I know they checked
g/box oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And Happy New Year To All.

i had a similar experience with an 06 sl55 a while ago. the tranny decoupled and i was in neutral (although the shifter was in "d") while going around 65 at light throttle.

put the car back in "n" and then back in "d" - no effect.

pulled over, shut down, restarted and all was good.

no codes or messages of any kind

Hi, exactly the same as mine, no warning signs at all.
Taking it to main dealer wednesday, hope he can find something.
As it happened again to you since?

My occurrence was when the engine was cold and I was close to an onramp to a highway. I didn't hit the gas hard but got up to 60 when the engine was cold. Happened twice, the first time the dealer could not find anything, the second time a code came up for a "valve body" in the transmission. They changed it under warranty and I have not had the problem since.

Same exact thing happened to me. I coasted off the freeway (from the fast lane) and re-started the car. It was fine after that and no error codes at all.

It just had a brain fart. I guess. In my case I had just gone to WOT to go around a car in the carpool lane and when it up-shifted it popped into neutral instead of 4th.

Has never happened again.
