Dear all,

I want to ask if the race start function works only after the initial 1500km break in period?

I am asking because I cannot select the RS function on the transmission mode dial. I tried turning ESP to sport and stepping the brake pedal down fully then turn the dial. However I cannot choose RS whatsoever. I want to know if this function only works after the 1500km break in period or if I need the dealer to activate it? Thanks for any input.

are you sure you are pressing down on the brake fully? i had this problem, i thought it was broken, but the problem was that i wasnt pushing hard enough on the brake, even if its enough to stop you from rolling, its not hard enough.

also make sure your steering wheel is straight

hmm then let me try that again... i guess i might not be pressing the brake hard enough..

how did you find the race start? will the car get a lot of wheel spin? or will it launch off very quickly without any drama?

i also want to ask if you are experiencing a slight slip in the clutch when shifting up with moderate to heavy throttle. i remember mine would do it when i am accelerating fairly hard with moderate to heavy throttle and when i shift up from 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th. i would sort of hear that the revs rise just a tad bit and then it would shift very quickly. i can only seem to realize this because of how loud the car is so i can hear the revs sort of rise a bit. but i am not 100% sure if its sth wrong with the car or if the car is actually like that. im just afraid i broke sth during the break in period... because i was not the most gentle with it hahah

You can use it at any time. I have used RS on an SL63 with 15 miles on it

race start sucks, unless you time it just right and launch as soon as it hits 4K RPM, its going to bog down VERY hard and be slow. you are better off not using it.

dont worry about break-in period, its just BS. You are fine.
