SL not locking

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.
When I press my fob the lights flash and the inside red flashing light comes on
however the doors and boot wont lock or unlock so I have to use the key.
I guess it's immobilized but the central locking seems to have stopped working.
Any ideas would be helpful.:y

When you unlock with the key does it only unlock the door you are using the key on do both unlock with the key??? Does the button on the dash work for locking/unlocking???

Are you sure you didn't accidentally leave the other key-fob inside the car? Never tried it but common sense would dictate that the car cant be locked if a keyfob is left in the car...

There is an air pump in the trunk that powers the locks and the inflatable bolsters in the seats. Check to see if your seats are working. It may be the pump or a broken line air line from the pump to the locks / seats.

The key mechanically unlocks only the door you use it in. You have an electrical malfunction or a pump malfunction.

You guys are right.
My seat does not work, and the central locking button in the car is not
functioning!!
Any body know how much a new pump is?:nix:

JackStraw 03-04-2009 02:21 PM

Nope. Mine was replaced under warranty. My pump failed because one of the lines was cracked causing it to run continuously.

Thanks!! you have given me an idea. I have a constant hissing/rushing noise
behind my head. So far the theory is it's the fuel pump! could it be the
pump that you mention, and the noise could be air escaping. Did you get
any noise when yours went?:D

JackStraw 03-05-2009 04:39 PM

I did not hear a noise. I was told that one of the air lines was cracked. It was a pretty big job to find it... the inside of the trunk had to be completely stripped and they had to trace the lines. It came this way from the factory. It was one of the first things that went.

I have told the MB dealer of your problem, and he is going to check it out.
Thanks:y

Does this sound like a dead battery in the remote?

Tried the spare set first, was hoping it was a dead battery, but now looks a lot more expensive, but thanks for the tip.:y

Don't count the battery out yet. I had the same issue and when I got the spare out it did the same thing. But when I thought it through, and realized the batteries were just as old in both sets. So, I changed both sets of batteries and the problem was solved!

JackStraw 03-06-2009 06:02 PM

The central locking button in the car is not working.

The seat bolsters are not inflating.

The lights flash when he presses the keyfob.

Odds are it is not the battery in the keyfob.

I done the best thing, lol, put it in part ex against a new SL63.
I believe it was the pump in the boot, expensive, undoubtedly, at the time
a whole heap of things were going wrong, with only 28k on the clock.
Mine was a 2002, one of the first, clever people ( not me ) wait for 6 months or so before buying a new model, teething troubles!!:naughty:

I'm sure some other members might know, but I'm pretty sure it was this pump
as other things weren't working, the seat bolsters for instance.

My drivers door IR stopped working. Door locks and top down function didn't work. Passenger door did work on locks.

They replaced the IR assembly at the drivers door and everything works fine now. It was under warranty.

At the same time warranty replaced the drivers door window switches. They were loose and broken at the tabs.
