AMG Button?
I was at the dealer a couple days ago, and noticed that the SL 63 had an AMG button next to the shifter, a couple inches below the tranny shift mode selector. What does the AMG button do, other than being really cool.

I believe that the AMG button serves as a memory for particular settings that the driver has made... but I could be wrong!

AMG button
Yes, the button is a shortcut to tuning your own transmission and suspension setting. Such as, instead of turning the dial from the Comfort mode to the Sport, Sport+ or the M each time you want that particular choise you can program the particular setting with the firmness of the suspension. Then, the next time you want that setting you simply push the AMG button.
Bye the way, even in the auto transmission mode you can still shift manually if you decide to have some more flexibility besides the manual mode.

i find this button pretty useless as i am always in sport + or manual mode. all i have to do is press the suspension button if i want the car to be in full attack mode. they should've programmed it so that we can save the ESP setting too. without the ability to set the ESP, i find this button pretty meaningless.
