Since I need to get my third brake light replaced on my '03 SL55 AMG anyway I'd like to go with the tinted/clear one from the 07 or 08 SL55 AMG... anyone have any info on when they changed from red to tinted clear third brake light so I can get the correct part number? I've heard it was in '06 or '07 for the SL65's and then 08 for the 55s and 65s...anyone know for certain what's the deal here with this and/or the proper p/n

I'm not sure...and the parts person doesn't have a picture to show me; they just want the p/n so they can make sure it fits with the decklid and LED plug since the years are different...

I gave MB parts disc a call and left a message.

Meanwhile I called my parts person at the dealer and they said that the clear taillight started for production year 2007, I asked them to verify it was the correct one for the '08 SL65 and they said it was, and that there only 3 versions - red LED, clear LED, and SL65 AMG Black Series...they gave me a p/n 230-820-09-56

I'll cross check it with MB parts disc just to make sure...
