05 SL500 to 07 SL55 whats a great deal

whats up guys, i love my 500 but I always wanted an 55.
I planned on keeping my 500 for a while but I'm thinking i can get into a decent mileage (15 thru 23k) with a small difference in price, about $10 grand or so.
i wanted to know what YOU think a good (or great) deal in this market for an 07 sl55 with at least pano & keyless go.
I see the prices all over the place 93k, 79k, 63k. i dont need any of those special packages as I am happy with the looks of my sl but just wanted that 510hp beast with the included upgrade in suspension and brakes.

besdies i'm tired og going to all the meets and the only guys who shows up are the amg's and m series

Talking

I just read about a SL55 - 2007 with 8,700 miles in our local Highline Autos Magazine here in AZ for $74,900... Plus an SL65 - 2006 with 604 hp and 738 ft.lb. torque for $89,900... Check out (www.highline-autos.com)... So there is some pretty good deals out there right now with the way our economy is now!! Even if you went with a 2009 as MB new car sales have been nearly 48% down in the USA according to the recent reports. So you may be able to work a very good deal for new as well. Just a thought!!!

I just went through a similar situation. Traded in my SL500 for an SL55...word of advice...

- make your car as much back to stock as possible before selling or trading. transferring mods over to the 55 is possible, I did that with my CCW forged wheels luckily they cleared the 55's calipers and fitted perfect, saved some $$$ there.

- get the 55 looked at somewhere you know and trust, carfax etc...etc... I had the body checked for original paint, unibody & drivetrain inspected and verified the car's one owner status. The 55 is more expensive to maintain, i.e brake job is more for example; parts can cost more & ussually do.

- Personally I think you have one of the most fantatic looking SL500's out there, I wouldn't swap if I were you....you've put so much detail, care and nice tasteful mods on your car it really stands out. Heck use the 10K toward a Renntech or Kleeman SC upgrade and have a unique killer lookin' car with great power...best of both worlds!!!

thanks dave, I found at least 2 07 55s in white. 1 with 21k miles for $80 and 1 for $64 w/17k miles. the only difference is the 1st one has the pano roof which i love but its not worth 16k. lol

thanks for the tips and the compliment! your right about getting it checked out since im sure the "beast" can be a beast to repair. thats why im lookong for an 07. at least it will still be under warranty.

if this doesn't pan out maybe i'll grab that exhaust from you if you still have it

Yeah I would agree with you concerning the pano roof, not worth the extra $$$$$! Keep us posted as to what you end up getting!!!

Sounds good bro...I just lowered the price to $1,200 plus shipping, from MD to NY should be pretty quick and inexpensive. I have someone else now whose very interested so it's pending sale right now...

After having traded in my SL500 on a 55 I have mixed feelings, sure the 55 is a beast and much faster (and a blast to drive) but honestly I rarely use the extra power on the highway for as much as the car has; my 500 got me better fuel economy also and the cars look basicly the same...I already made the trade but if I had to do it over (in the US, in Europe the 55 has a purpose for life in the autobahn) and I had a nicely modded 500 like you do I probably would have just stuck with a clean, tasteful, and more paid off SL500...
