70k miles... THe initial thought was the coupling bearings - replaced those and still a noise. So, my mechanic is suggesting a rebuild for $1,800 which he would send out... He is extremly trusted so, i dont question his opinion. I was hoping that someone may have some recomendations on a rebuild they can trust...
Thanks

I HAVE A COMPLETE 2004 SL55 SUPERCHARGER WAS TAKEN OFF BECAUSE OF THE CHIRP NOISE.
I HAVE A COMPLETE 2800 MILES SL55 AMG SUPERCHARGER THAT I BOUGHT ON EBAY 3 YEARS AGO. THE SELLER WAS A PARTS GUY AT A MB DEALER AND HE POSTED ON EBAY THAT IT WAS REPLACED BY MB UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE CHIRPING SOUND OF THE CLUTCH.
IT IS COMPLETE I BELIEVE WITH CLUTCH AND IS IN THE ORIGINAL MERCEDES WOODEN BOX (LOOKS LIKE A SMALL COFFIN)
I PAID $2900
I NOW HAVE AN SL65 AND I DONT NEED IT.. MAKE ME AN OFFER

Well the first symptom was a nosie under the hood. When i looked at the SC pulley the bearings were exposed (Usual they have a plastic dust cover) and grease spewed around the area...
Once that bearing was replaced there was an enternal noise coming from inside the SC. The SC was removed and the inside smelt like manure.
So now the internal bearing or seals are kaput... So, we called all around and the only knowledgeble company was PSE in Oklahoma. He knew exactly what was up. So, i am shipping it off to them for a total rebuild ($2,200). He said that when a bearing goes out it throws the balance off and the rest goes.
Now, a few weeks ago i had a smoking problem at high revs and high speed - this explains it... The internal bearings or seal was going out and sucked grease into the intake...
I'll let you all know how things turn out...
Thanks
