2008 - CL63 - 030
Any CL63 to SL63 converts in the crowd?

I have a 2008 CL63 with the 010 package and wheels.

Car is gorgeous and super comfortable to drive but I'm itching for something sportier.

For anyone that has driven both the CL63 and SL63 would you say the SL63 is a lot sportier? Better handling in the turns, etc?

My car as 6k miles on it. Do you think it would be just about an even trade for an SL63 with a few thousand miles on it?

adam- you should go drive one. they are a great car. I also have a 2008 CL63 but wanted a trunk and a backseat. I amost got the clk63 black. I only have one car and it is my DD do everything car. When I need more of a driving thrill, I get on my 999R or hayabusa.

2010 CL65
Had '08 CL63 030; have '09 CL65; passed on SL63 030 at launch after extensive test drives in twisties

SL63 MCT has since shown troubling reliability and daily-useability "issues" among several owners I know (who are each moving on to '10 SL65 to avoid MCT)

In my test drives, SL63 had simply awful brake pedal feel (excellent braking dists but difficult to titrate braking) and old-tech sport seats of SL are rather inferior to those of CL in terms of deep bolsters for twisties driving

Both 63s have anemic tq vs '09 65s....and latest 65s have exemplary traction vs older versions (suspect throttle response has been refined by AMG over the yrs)

Have order in for '10 CL65 for ?Sept build; can't ever go back to 63 tq after experiencing a 65 w/such brilliant balance of tq and traction

I have just changed from CL65 and SL55 to SL63, I also have a S600.
I find the brakes superior on the 63 far superior to others I mention. Perhaps they have improved them since your test drive, mine is 3 weeks old.

Clearly different cars. If you want a convertible, the SL is simply it.

That said, the current CL is technically a much newer and more advanced platform, but it is a larger body car. Even more a GT than the SL.

After driving the CL63, I was disappointed; that one simply benefits from more torque. I would take a CL only as a 600/65 version, not the 63.

As much as I love the SL, the last facelift (09/10) is just not a great design to me. Too half-baked and less what it used to be, but the SL63 with MCT is a better fit for that car and deliver a greater experience for the driver.

My 2cents
