TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSORS Error

Okay Gentlemen,

I got a "rectify tire pressure" error after I upgraded my rims. I did a little research on this board and realized that the sensors are probably missing from my new rims. Here's the problem, I sold my stocked rims already with the sensors. Where can I buy the sensors and how do I install them to get rid of this error message?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Yep, $400 plus installation, then take it to the dealer to program so they will talk to the car.

Real Cars
Poker,

Not all aftermarket wheels have provisions for the Mercedes tire pressure sensors. If your wheels are not made for sensors, you will likely have to live with the error unless your dealership is kind/competent enough to turn off TPMS. I had it turned off in my car.

As stated above.... figure ~$400 each and then a trip to the dealer for programming. I think that when I had to replace mine, it was about $1600 all together. Keep in mind that these things have batteries and that every few years the battery dies and the whole unit has to be replaced!

You don't know whether your new rims have sensors? I'm not so sure that "rectify..." is the message you'll get if you don't have TPMS on your rims. I think you should get some other error message.

I got the same message when I replaced my wheels and my TPMS w/ ones from Luke. I just did the reset couple times (may be 5-7 times)... and then it hasn't happened anymore until now. The first time around, it took several miles for the system to recognize the new TPMS.

The price I just got for new sensors was 99.00 per wheel plus install. Then the cost of the dealer to match to the vehicle.

The dealer quoted me 165.00 plus 25.00 for a new stem kit, so about 200.00 per wheel plus install and programing. So all said and done my dealer would not let me out of the shop without spending 2k ;-) BTW two dealers said they would not turn off the tpms system for liability reasons. Something about a DOT thing if it came with it it has to stay active?.

Much worse than the wife's Bring My Wallet car.

An independent shop with a Carsoft or Star Diagnostics system can also turn TPMS off for you if you cannot find a cooperative dealer.

Sorry I passed on some incorrect information. I just had new sensors installed in my new wheels that did not come with sensors. Tire Rack $384.06 shipped for sensors and stems.
Discount Tires did the install, remount and balance and put them on the car. The tech said no need to take to the dealer and pay $135.00 to match them to the car...just do this. Go to the TPMS screen on the dash and hit the reset button, drive for ten min and you are good-to-go. He was correct.

Next, the TPMS is required on all 2008 and up and is required to be active until the OEM tires are replaced then it can be turned off.

Made me feel like Marsellus Wallace!

Remember the famous words of Mr. Jules Winnfield;

Samuel L. Jackson: "Describe what Marsellus Wallace looks like!"
Frank Whaley: "What?"
Jackson: "Say 'what' again! Say 'what' again! I dare you! I double dare you, mother****er! Say 'what' one more God-damned time!"
Whaley: "He's black."
Jackson: "Go on!"
Whaley: "He's bald."
Jackson: "Does he look like a *****?"
Whaley: "What?"
Sfx: Gunshot.
Whaley: "Aaahh!"
Jackson: "Does... he... look... like a *****?!"
Whaley: "Nooo!"
Jackson: "Then why'd you try to f*** him like a *****, Brett?"
Whaley: "I didn't!"
Jackson: "Yes, you did! Yes, you did, Brett. You tried to **** him. And Marsellus Wallace don't like to be ****ed by anybody except Mrs. Wallace."

Watch that scene carefully!

Watch that scene carefully and look behind S.L.J as he is speaking those infamous lines....

You will notice that there are already 6 bullet holes in the wall BEFORE the guy comes out of the bathroom and fires 6 rounds with the "HAND CANNON"

There was a major ***** up by the Art Dept/Production designer....

I have an original script..

If you get the right one, then yes... just drive it for couple miles (mine took a little while... I think about 10 miles or so).
