New 3 Slat Grille For SL !!!
Got my new style 3 slat grill on the car. I bought it used and had big plans. But after I fitted it on I found it didnt fit. The newer 07, 08 front bumper is higher and that causes the grille to be shorter.
The top 4 screws and mounting is the same. But the bottom is too short to slip under the bumpers lip. Its about 3/4 to 1" shorter. Theres no way to attach it.
I have plans to swap to the 07/08 newer style bumper later. Which will make the new grille usable. So I dont want to alter it in any way.
I attached a strip of sheet metal to my bumper using the 2 rivets on the upper edge. The short grille sits on it. It is very stable but it just floating, not attached. So I sat it on body side molding tape. Which is virtually perminate.
So I did my black chrome to the silver painted slats and put it all back togather.
Cant tell any thing is altered from 5 feet away. Plus I like it better than the 4 slats. Pretty cool for $75

How much for the old grille?
How much for the old SL65 grille? Does it have chrome on the leading edge?

Now that I have the 3 slat grille finished, I can sell the 4 slat grille that has the Black Chrome paint. Send me message if anyone is interested.
