Words like "guessing" and "suspect" still worry me but it's probably good news that the messages have stopped now the control unit has been removed.
Begs the question why a failing control unit can cause so many other messages to be generated. Presumably, the rogue unit is swamping the network with garbage so that communications between the other control units is lost and they're assumed to be down as well.
Intelligent analysis would remember the first failure and distinguish between likely original cause and subsequent effect. Maybe the error logs show that, but it does nothing for owner confidence to see the display light up like a Christmas Tree. Speaking of which, my R129 lost it's adaptive damping, ESP and ABS all in one automotive tantrum yesterday, so it looks like the R230 is just continuing a trend started way-back. The more things change, the more they stay the same, as the French like to say.
