As to color, it seems to me that almost half of the SL's I see are silver. And half of the rest are black. Have you thought about Pewter or Desert Sand (or whatever MB is calling their metallic beige these days)? Both are quite nice.

IMO if the service stations clean or not their system is irrelevant,cause the only car wash I would take my car (which I don't ) is a touchless one. On any other one, you are looking for trouble.

No touch car washes are the only automated you should use, unless you don't care about the fine scratches that the "safe" cloths that beat onto your paint surface. Unfortunatley, these are only easily on black paint, but nonetheless are there on all colors

Either that or you have spent so many hours poring over legal documents over the years that you eyes are unable to detect the "fine scratches that the safe cloths beat onto your paint surface".

looks like the SL600 will also have the steering wheel buttons to shift the gears.
