My father was in the Korean war and I have one uncle who also served in Korea. I have 2 other uncles that served in WWII, both received Purple Hearts and one was KIA-MIA during D-day.
I served 4 years in the Marines with some Desert Storm action. As a private security contractor, I deployed for 2 years, (6) 3-4month assignments in the Secondary AO and I currently been in the Main AO for 6+ years (19) 3-4month assignments.
I never thought I would have chosen war torn countries full of conflict as my job of choice but I love what I do and it has it's benefits!

I remember bumping into you when we both had our cars in the hands of Vadim Fedorosky. You looked so calm and I was ready to go ballistic on him.
I'm glad you haven't given up on your project. I thought my project finally ended when I thought I blew my engine. I posted a part-out of all my mods here only to find out a few days ago from Richard Garcia at DynoComp that my engine was fine. All eight cylinders were within a few lbs of each other hovering around 170.
It was the supercharger that broke. I put such an extreme wrap on that small pulley that the bearings broke loose and the nose shaft cracked even though I was still able to squeeze out 500 rwhp at the Dyno Shop in San Diego.
I am now working putting a 3 litre twin-screw in it so won't have to boost it as much. 10 psi should be more than enough with a SC that is 50% larger.
So in the end neither of our projects has ended in failure.

So in the hopes of my project being completed, I purchased some new meats for my SL55. I still haven't found my stolen HRE's, so I'm using my secondary 19" AMG wheels.
Rears are Michelin Pilot Super Sport 295/30/19
Fronts are Michelin Pilot Super Sport 255/35/19
Hey, don't laugh.. It's all I have to look at from my SL55!!

I doubt it, but you're the 32,475 viewer! Congrats!
It would win the longest engine build ever. I mean it took 5 years to build the Hoover Dam and I'm passed that by almost 1 year!!
Got to laugh at that, that was funny!!

Progress people!! Progress!!
Motor mount bracket was found. Thanks to James at ACG for finding a discontinued part!
Engine is assembled.
Lots of brand new parts thanks to Evosport for misplacing everything..
Engine is installed and headers bolted on!
We still have lots of small parts on order and are a long way from completion, but as you can see this project lives On!!
In addition, the original VRP 5.7L motor is on the side slowly getting beefed up.

Not yet.. They are currently building the exhaust which is pretty simple, X-pipe after headers then straight pipes to stock mufflers. Next they will break it in for a bit and then bolt on a few more mods.. I can see some type of light at the end of this never ending tunnel though..
Stay posted..

I look forward to seeing what the results are. I secretly wish you had v12 you are beefing up. I would love to see what the 600 is capable with someone willing to put the time and money into it.

Just an update from last weekend, took a quick vid of this girl coming to life
Take with open headers so it's a bit loud but she's ready for some break in.
It's been a long road but we are getting there!

Good question.. Because I bought it years ago and it's just collecting dust..
I'm currently building another motor for my E55 that will have a Weistec blower on it with upgraded internals so I decided not to go All Out on this motor. Plus having an SLR blower will be pretty unique even though the only difference are the drive gears. I have a smaller S/C pulley for it and I'm interested in seeing the amount of boost gained. Might just leave my stock crank pulley on.. we'll see..

Oh, and another reason is because I want my SL to retain the stock engine bay look. Personally, after dealing with different top mounted coolers that just looked like crap, I now prefer my SL to retain a more professional engine bay like AMG built it. I'm not really fond of how the Weistec system looks either so here I'm choosing looks over performance..
