anybody have any idea how the heck water would possibly get in there... very very minor but enough to leave it wet.... i left the car overnight in the rain came back the next day popped the trunk and there it was.

I sometimes get the same problem. Not alot but enough to see that its damp.

Happened to me in the past. Check the weather stripping all around and also check for debris in the reservoir drain holes on the left and right sides.

try pulling off the weather stripping between the trunk and the rear glass, I say this because my mothers 04 sl55 had this problem and I discovered rust on the metal there, her car lives in the garage with a dehumidifier and only has around 20k miles on her...maybe a drain hole is plugged? Good luck
