'09 SL63 Exhaust
Came very close to buying an '09 SL63 but we found the exhaust (especially top down) to be very flat sounding and too loud at low rpms/around town; anyone else feel this way? The salesperson was very candid and said this is not the first time he's heard a prospect make this comment. The exhaust at moderate to higher rpms sounded quite mellifluous however. I had an '06E55 so I am no stranger to AMG but my 55's was not that flat and loud even when standing behind the car.

the sound is perfect imho
i had an 04 sl55 and just replaced it with an 09 sl63. i LOVE the sound of the sl63 and find it superior to the sl55 at all rpm's. i would prefer it to be just a bit louder at low rpm's. it is an aggressive rumble and you can almost feel it in your ba**s!

if you are looking for an AMG the words "too loud" should not even be a thought
i have driven almost every AMG on the market, I would say the three nicest, loudest, crispiest AMGs are (in order)...
1) SL63 AMG
2) G55 AMG
3) CLK63- BLACK SERIES
so to say the SL63 is too loud, or too loud at low rpms is crazy...
car sounds phenomenal
