2003 Sl55 Nav Question

Is there any way to change the map orientation so that the directional arrow always points up? So the map is not always north up? This is on a 2003 SL55. Any help is appreciated!

Consider this your lucky day, since I got bored and read my User Manual today =)

Try out pg 177 of the COMAND Operator's Manual, it's easier for you to see/read the directions than for me to try to explain it. Basically, there is an icon on the lower left side that looks like an "N" with an arrow going upward through it. If you select that, it will do a "Heading-up" orientation (arrow always up), instead of the default "North-up" (arrow points to direction car is in). Cheers.

Thanks azaka! Your boredom is greatly appreciated!
Oops, spoke too soon. Looks like 2004 system and book is different from 2003. No such option on '03s and page 177 in the book just deals with inputting destination. But thanks for the effort!

Most Mercedes Comand Manuals are found here.... http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm

After searching for the word "Orientation" in the SL manuals, here are the relevant pages... 2003 Page 159, 2004 Page 177, 2005 Page 153.

Thanks Dan for the research! But I'm afraid my answer is still that what I'm asking for is not possible. The page you reference in the 2003 Command Manual does deal with map orientation, but only during a navigation route. I was hoping to have a heads up map orientation when the map is just displayed but no route is being followed. But again, thanks for the effort and help!
