I have around 2K miles on my SL63 and have had no transmission problems whatsoever. I drive my SL in manual mode, exclusively. Today, I was accelerating quickly, shifting gears as i was accelerating, when i smelled a disgusting odor emanating from the front of my SL63. I assume this was my clutch burning. I generally shift in a more conservative fashion, typically letting up slightly on the accelerator between shifts, as one would when driving a true manual transmission. Any comments??

Any time you drive a car hard and the parts are new, it will do that. Brakes, clutch, engine, etc...
Nothing to worry about.

Hi I have a SL63 with 2500 miles. Get your oil temp up and see how much hotter it gets in manual than sport auto mode, mine smells like new exhaust mixed with rancid oil. I am concerned if I will get trouble.
By the way I love using the stick in manual, part on twisty stuff.
