DIY Belt replacement - any suggestions?

OK, I've tried to read up on how to replace the two serpentine belts on my SL55... people have said it is simple, but I still am not sure what is required.

I see where the tensioners are located, but how do I release the tension, and once the new belt is installed, what is the procedure to retension?

Any step-by-step tips/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

using a breaker bar and the proper socket place the socket over the tensioner bolt. use leverage to release the thension on the pilley and slipp the belt off. then slowly release the tension on the tensioner. install is the reverse
if the end of the tensioner bolt is a torx be careful as these torx stripp very easily. the tensioner on my slk32 was 500$ to replace just for the part

Ah, ok... so the bolt is never removed, it's used in conjunction with the break bar as a leverage point. That's where I was getting confused.

Ya, on mine it is a torx....

Thanks for the tips!!!

no worries. if yours is like mine the regular nut holds the pulley on. at the end of the stud that the pulley rides on is the torx. you will need a torx soket to fit. on my slk32 the fit is so tight i needed to remove my fan assy. to gain enough room for the socket and breaker to work without slipping off
