My SL63 just yesterday started displaying the red warning in the dash that the trunk was not closed all the way. I have checked several times and there is nothing in the trunk obstructing it and it seems to close fine when I press the button, but despite this the car thinks its not closed and will not allow me to retract the hard top. Anyone see this before? seems like it must be s sensor problem. Is there a way to reset it?

My SL63 had this exact failure last week. The dealership replaced a pump.

So on closer inspection it looks like the trunk is actually not closing all the way. I have looked at it a hundred times, there is nothing blocking it or anything, but when I press the button to close the trunk goes down and seems to latch but there is a little gap. Going to the dealer Friday. Must say I'm a tad disappointed that a 140k car with 5k miles has this kind of problem already...

So I got it back from the dealer. There is a pump of some kind that fails and generates this problem. They reset it and then it was working fine. Did not replace the pump but told me to bring it back if it happens again and they would.

just FYI. Seems like this is a know issue since at least one other forum member had the exact same thing happen.
