Automatic Roll Bar Q's...
I recently had the opp to drive an SL65 for a couple of days while my E500 was in for a new windshield... Once or twice with the top down, I managed to activate the auto roll bar feature 
, which certainly got my attention... Questions came to mind... Can the roll bar be raised with the top up...? Will the auto roll bar feature work with the top up if you pull more than .5 G...? I seem to remember reading that .5 G is when the system activates the roll bar if down... Just curious... If I find an SL, I could see me wanting to Autocross this car to get to know it better...

2. Vehicle acceleration in any direction > 3 times normal G-force
According to Mercedes training documents. The system still needs to deploy if you raised the bar by using the buttons on the console, so even with the bar up you'll hear a ratcheting noise if deployment occurs.
