New SL55 Release Info
Was given this data by a reliable source regarding the release of the SL55 AMG...
No, I think it will be a 2004.
The problem with fuel consumption has been in the back ground for a while. In Germany they got 35 liters to 100 km. That would be a hard sell in the US, but I doubt mileage would be that bad if you were not on it all the time. The problem is that to make 475 HP from the 5.5 and using a supercharger, it takes 80 to 90 HP to run the supercharger. The twin turbo is most probably the way to go, the extra power is just about free. The electronics will be a
little more difficult to do.
I would expect at the earliest it to be mid 2003 for the SL5.5 late spring early summer. But that is a maybe at the earliest.

we have heard told of customer cars being delivered in europe (pictures from a dealer lot in italy, specifically).
consensus seems to be that it's on schedule for summer to late summer in the US.
but nobody's saying for sure.

CLK55, Mini S
That sounds like BS to me. Why would Americans care more about fuel economy than europeans? We got the guns and the cheap gas!
And then the aside about a twin turbo being the way to go...it ain't gonna be a twin turbo...they have already spec'd out the SC55. They have shown it. They have tested it against other super cars. Some people have to see God to know he exists, I guess. May the day of reckoning be upon us soon!!!!
