Impression on the new 2012 SL 231.
Hey guys, found an impression pic on the new SL MY 2012. The article says it will be based on the chassis of the current SLS and will share a lot of technology with it. Basicly the same versions like we have today. 280, 350, 500, and 600.
The AMG versions will follow early 2013 with a 63 5.5 turbo and a 65 V12.

Totally agree with you. I've never warmed up to the SL63 facelift and this new 2012 design certainly doesn't get me excited.

I think all new models should be different, I remember when the SL came out
in the UK 2002 I thought it was an amazing improvement over the previous
model, however after 9 years it did to me look tired although still pretty, but when I saw the SL63 my eyes popped out, I loved it. However the new SL
looks quite a bit like the SLS from the front , perhaps sharing body parts to
keep costs down, I am afraid the SLS doesn't do it for me, the front and the
square roof line ( not like a coupe) which is necessary for the doors. I have seen loads of vids inc JL test and it doesn't float my boat. Why do manufacturers have to make cars with retro old shapes, I believe BMW done
an expensive old copy, was it a M8 not sure but it was a flop. I think the SL63 is a beautiful and impressive change from the previous model, i just hope
MB are not heading for producing a lot of so so cars.
Sorry that was a bit long.

The 'new' SL will probably look good, but I still think that the overall package of my SL55 (looks, performance, handling) is the best. My SL55 sits beside one of my Ferrari's in the garage and it still looks stunning... after all these years.

I go hot and cold on the SLS. I have a deposit on one, but I can't bring myself to actually place the order.

Will the new SL have a nat *** engine, or supercharged, or turbo, I have so little info on it apart from some pics.
If you go ahead on the SLS, please post your thoughts, I am interested how quick it feels, should be good with the figures I have seen.

AMG's new bread and butter engine is supposed to be a bi-turbo engine.
