True or False, the SOS warning can't be turned off with the star diag tool
I went to the dealer yesterday to have the SOS error turned off. They told me that MB legal won't allow for this error to be cleared because I don't subscribe to SOS and they want you to be aware that you don't subscribe just in case of an accident. ( I can't even subscribe to SOS anyway with out the digital upgrage which is $1800)
They tried to charge me $127 which I did not pay,but that's a totally different topic.
Anyway is this true or
? I can live with it, but it's just irratating to always see a malfunction when starting and stopping the car and would like to clear it.

update
Just Left my independant service guy. He says that turning off that malfunction is locked out and he can't clear it either. He even tried pulling the fuse and that didn't clear the error either. So I'm stuck with it I guess.
