Low 12's in the 1/4 at the Drag Strip
I had a good day at the drag strip yesterday and thought that I would post my slip for proof. 50 degree temp, fresh sticky track with 1/4 tank of fuel along with new tires all around. I ran a 12.467 1/4 mile and trapped out at 110.90 mph. However, there is still more room for improvement at the tree as my response time was .377. I believe if I had drag radials I would have done much better. What do you all think, thumbs up or thumbs down? By the way my car was tuned by Dino from Veloce performance.

Great photo!
Good 60' time, too. It took me a while to develop a feel for the launch.
Given your mods I'd expect your car to trap higher than 110 mph. Are you still running the original intercooler pump?

Thanks Bro, Actually I have the CM30 Johnson's, but I plan to upgrade to the new OEM which is supposed to be a better and revised pump. I need Drag Radials, that's the difference, no traction.

your reaction time has nothing at all to do with your et, so that wont change if you cut a better light.
trap speed seems a couple mph low, should be closer to 113 to 114 in the mid to low 12's.
1.80 60 is good, best i got is a high 1.7 but its not easy to get those numbers.

Yeah I actually thought about that after I posted, it has nothing to do w/ reaction time. I think my fuel pump shuts down on me sometimes, its not the IC pump I can distinguish the difference between the two. Ha, I found your Grill Bro.

Your car is trapping really low. The link is to completely stock SL55 running a higher trap speed (and slightly slower ET) in 91 degrees (2,000+DA). If I were you, I would step up to a new tune from LET with the mods that you are running.

Question, does anyone here know the stock number for the new OEM IC pump??

OK Tom well I thought I had a good day at the track and maybe my tune is not as good as I thought hmmm, but I will be getting rid of her in two years in exchange for a stock SL65. However, you are right and since Gfear brought something to my attention, I think my IC pump is lagging again also, damn this is the second one I installed. If I decide on LET tuners, than I have just waisted all that money invested in the original tune whereas LET could and probably would care less. Anyway, I am about to invest in the new revamped OEM IC pump which is supposed to be of better quality than the old and the CM30 Johnson pump.

but looking at drag times on SL55's it seems to take a lot to improve em.
I think looks are more important, and your car looks great.

Pump number
I just had to try the "new and improved pump" when mine gave up on me.
The part number is 0005000386
Made a big change in the numbers on the dyno.
Good luck!

Charles,
That link posted above was my car. That was before I bought a scanguage II and learned to bring the IAT's down before I drag raced the car.
Less than a month ago I ran close to a 12 flat at 116mph. Still 100% stock.

Check out my pointers in this blog post below. Get a Scanguage II. It will let you know your IAT's. If they are above 110 you need to drive you car before you line up to drag. Keep the car running after you drive it to keep the IAT's down. Once you shut the car off they will skyrocket and not come down unless you drive it again. Idling will not bring them down enough.
Here is the post.

I now have a Renntech stage one kit and am going for mid 11's at 120.

I feel for you buddy, there's nothing worse than high expectation, letting you down, I spent 9k on a Jag XKR once, only to find a stock car beat me afterwords. Also when you already feel disappointed someone shows you a stock cars time and suggests you try another tuner. I would try the pump,
but looking at drag times on SL55's it seems to take a lot to improve em.

Welcome to the forum Bro. GO to the main page were you will see the various Mercedes classes, depending on which forum you wish to post click on new thread and post, that way everyone that first logs on can see your post. For example, I visit the AMG side of the house so I scroll down to SL55 AMG, than I enter that forum and start from there, hope that helps out. As for your tail lights, try eBay.

I think 1 to 2 seconds without the hesitation is very optimistic on stock tires and no exhaust mods. Get a set a drag radials and see what your car will do. We have a track rental going at MIR (Maryland International Raceway) on April 2nd. MIR has some of the best track prep on the East Coast.

There is only one p/n for the upgraded pump for all SL55 '03 - '08, is that correct?
