Just had the Nitto Extreme DR 305 35 18 installed on an 03 SL55 stock turbine wheels. Looks bad a$$ and they hook. So if anyone was wondering if they fit . Cant tell you the satisfaction of being able to launch the car and getting just about all the power to the ground, you really get a better sense of the power these cars make. My best 60 ft with stock Pzero was 1.947 walking it out of the hole. Im thinking with these tires it'll run in the 1.7s.

Not sure on how to upload the pics on the thread , but i can direct you to my pics on the site. Both shots are of the car on the lift, by the time i got done flogging the beast after tire install it was too dark to take better shots.

Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!

I'm thinking about getting an 18" or 19" lightweight wheel/tire set-up for the track. Just not sure what to go with since there are so many choises.

Got any side pictures? The Nitto website recommend 11" for 305.

Please post up some of your 60s after you have had a chance to hit the track with those new shoes. I have managed a 1.76 with T1Rs and have been looking at the Nitto Extreme thinking I might be able to shave a 10th or so from my 60s.

Rule of thumb is, every 10th you shave off your 60', means (2) 10ths at the big end.

1.70 60' for me on 20" ContiExtremeContact3's.

My pleasure! This site helped steer me in the right direction many times..just trying to give back I'm sticking with 18's, would hate to hurt my gearing with the larger rims.

Andy I'll get some profile photos up this afternoon

Cal1..Going to the track this evening will post 60ft times

I do have leaky motor mounts now so they must be working..never ends

Have a good time at the track tonight. hopefully those new tires will really stick and the density altitude won't be too bad.

Got a question for the pros. Installed 168 pulley and had ECU tune. Haven't gotten the heat exchanger yet (on order). At the track the car falls on its face after 2-3 shift (takes a long time to shift as well). I did a little experiment while cruising home on the highway and the car shifts instantly with no drop off in power, now I'm thinking after doing my burnout (nice and smokey) that I'm getting some heat soak. Is this a possibility? My time slips are on my photo page..thanks guys!! And those Nitto's hook extremely well, my roll bar popped up during launch, had to manually lower it by the way to get the top to go down for the ride home. ;-)

So, did my (1) .10th = (2) 10ths hold true?

Maybe not, since it sounds like you're suffering from heat soak, a bit.

heat soak is a likely candidate. That HE on order should help a ton. Lots of people swear by bags of ice on the SC between runs. I watched E55Bullet do so effectively last week at ORP (Indy). I think he went through three bags. I also wonder about the density altitude (DA). A high DA saps power from our SCs. What track were you at and about what time of day? I will check the DAs for you if you are interested.

So how do you like the 305s for normal driving? I'm thinking split the difference and go to 295s.

He was at PBIR in Jupiter Florida. I ran my car that night as well.

It was 81 degree's with a da of 1200 at 6:30 when I ran my car. I left early.

Here is a calculator for the DA just in case you want to bookmark it.
http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...calculator.php

This time of year in Florida is not good for drag racing. It will only get worse. Kustom will be solidly in the 11's come Dec-March.

It's important to drive the car in between runs to cool down the IAT charge. I couldn't live without my scanguage which shows my IAT temps. I can't believe more people don't us it on their 55's.

Thanks, Yeah I figured DA was not going to be your friend this time of year in FL. Does the scanguage track AFRs as well?

Thanks FLSL55 for posting that info!!

Cal1, I keep the tire Pressure around 40lb. Your going to lose some cornering ability due to the softer sidewall but I don't mind the trade off considering what the car gained in straight line performance
;-) ..I like the look of the 305's and think 295's would work just as well.

I know a HE will not add anymore horsepower as an add on per se (like cams or headers) but it will make available the power that's already there that are being hindered by heat soak.
