K...so I understand everything but..
got my new to me..05 SL55...
everything is fine...got everything setup fine..but..I can't get into the glovebox..really embarrasssing but I can't seem to be able to open it.
I've tried using the key inside the smartkey...I've tried hitting the central unlock..still I can't get in.
I don't want to force it open

We have fixed a couple of these. The release cable needs to be adjusted. To get the glove box open, push the release button open with your left hand and while continuing to hold the button, give the glove box door a couple of raps with the palm of your right hand. The glove box door will usually open.
Now that the door is open, the glove box must be removed for access to the release cable. The cable, which is operated by the release button, has a plastic thumb nut on it that can be adjusted to take up slack that is keeping the glove box latch from releasing.
Most of the time is in getting the glove box out. There should be a procedure for that somewhere on the forum.
