Hit the drag strip tonight
Feeling under the weather all week, I needed to get out of the house. With a slightly lucky turn of evens the weather dipped below 100+ degrees today. So I forced myself up of the couch. Loaded up on Sudafed and other meds that dont work. I brushed the dust off my helmet and inspected it for spiders and scorpions. Grabbed a box of Kleenex and headed on out to the drag strip.
Got to the strip at about 6:30pm waiteed in my car for about a half hour with the A/C blasting in my face as I try to cool off from a fever that just broke. I talked to old timer at the strip with a hand held D/A meter. At race time it was 89 degrees and a D/A of 4200ft.
I slap my helmet on and shut the A/C off, then pull up to the burnout box. Running street tires I feel there was no need for a burnout, other than a quick spin to clean the tires. Feeling slightly dizzy I rip off a 1.8 60ft. and kinda felt like I was going to pass out. I muscled through and and ran a 12.4 at 112mhp. Not bad IMO, for 4200ft DA.
I was able to sneak in a hot lap just after. Before they ran a sanctioned event. I ran an other 12.4 at 113mhp. Nice and consistent i quess?
I pulled back into the puts and waited until the first heat was over from trh ADRA event. After being blasted out by tire smoke I new I could only handle one more run. I got a D/A update of 3990ft And ran a best of 3 runs 12.3 @ 113mhp. with a blistering reaction time of 1.20
With that said 12.3 @ 113mhp is the best I could do today. Sadly it wont get any better until October. It was kind of fun though.
