1975 Mercedes 350SL V8 (just sold the SL600)
The studded looking alloys, as well as chrome looking alloys on some of these R230's look so hideous and ruins the entire appearance of the car itself. Looks tacky and devalues the car. I just upgraded to 19" OEM AMG VII alloys on the SL600. Being fitted this Friday. Pics to follow soon this weekend.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Back to the ....
first page, first car. Those JAZ 20" (Euro, Euro 63, 25 Euro, whatever you want to call them) are really nice in thier simplicity, but I think JAZ is gone, right? Also, who imports/sells Monarchs now?

That's a must do.....
as none of these cars look good at the stock ride height. They don't need to be ground crawling, but there is so much space in the fenders, especially at the rear, that it's just got to be done.
BTW, those BBS LM's in that last post have got to be the class of the field. Classic design, reasonable weight, great finish.

I'll see if I can get some. Don't talk yourself out of it. Wonderful car (GT that is, if you want a sports car this really isn't it, but you probably already know that).

No, no,,,,
you don't understand. I have 55 already, by 5 or 6th one. What i WANT but shouldn't buy is a set of BBS lm's. Love those wheels, and you don't often see them on SL's.....

IMO the best looking rims for the SL as well - but I am a huge fan of the ADV.1 Concave 5 spokes as well - very clean and sharp look for the SL. Not a fan of the deep dishes as the Lowenharts I had cost me close to 12K in rim repairs and tires within 2 years before I gave up on 20's and went with Factory 19 inch AMG wheels. Now life is fantastic

Remember,
the wheels shown on the black car above are not AMG. AMG does not offer the wheel that you need for an R230 in 20" sizes. The wheels pictured are most likely known as as JAZ, or Euro 25, or several other names. They are copies, but I've had a set and they were extremely good quality. Also, they are so cheap that you can buy 6 (or 8) if you bend one or have a finish problem. Hope that helps.

LM is a nice wheel but I don't think mesh goes well with the SL like a 5 or 6 spoke wheel would...also LM is really heavy compared to other choices out there in the same price range...

I'll see if I can get some pics for you this weekend.

Thanks 2 Mny....
I absolutely agree, the fact that you don't see as many LM's makes them that much more desirable. There's a guy on the boards here that has a set for sale for an R230, but the price is way too steep in my opinion, one of them has a bad curb mark, and they are on the left coast, which doesn't help me....I look forward to seeing more pix of your car....

I am as well...the LM is based on BBS modular racing wheels which were used by many pro teams through the 80's, 90's and early 2000's, that's how they gained popularity...this was before the time when monoblocks (today's popular racing wheel design) cam into mainstream with many teams...however the LM is a heavy street version of that modular wheel...the manufacturing processes used by BBS in building the actual race wheel is much different from the street LM, so although it may look similar it is not the same at all and does not offer the same benefit of that traditional racing wheel.

Didn't get a chance to take any pictures today as my girlfriend's father is very sick and therefore we'll be leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow and today was spent packing. A friend took the picture in the garage. Not the best but you get the idea. Looking forward to seeing your new wheels.

Well I think I have found my favorite wheel for my SL. I liked the stock turbine wheels, and I liked the BBS RSGT, and I tried the Zauber Gettins but I think I have found what I want. They are the wheels from a 2008 CLK63 black series. I think I might put a 10mm spacer on the rear wheels.

As promised these are the photos of the 19" on the Vii AMG alloys.
Need the car lowered by 15-20mm next then grille change.

This is what it looked like before.18"'s all round on Mercedes Avior.
The originals are worth £1137 but I am willing to sell him half price if anyone is interested? (inc. Tyres) for £650 or nearest offer.

I'm all about the 5 spoke, but I think these Kahn RS-X wheels are a great match on the SL63.
And with excessive negative camber, (12x20) wheels with 305/25/20 meats can fit on the rear without rubbing!
