I just purchased these Sterling Silver AMG IV 2-piece alloy 5 split-spoke wheels, 19x8.5 ET25/Front, 19x10 ET28/Rear. They came off a 2008 CLS 63 AMG with Performance Package and have only 500 miles on them.

Haha! I like how you have these as your backup wheels.

That was my plan too as I'm keeping my 20" HRE's. But I'll probably mount these bad boys and roll them for some time.

I have a new found feel for everything AMG!

Don't worry dude, ADV1 will sort it out. But until then the AMG 2-piece split-spoke wheels are not bad as a main set. Don't beat your head up bro!

I think I'm going to reinstall my stock 18" AMG 2-piece split-spoke wheels on my SLK 55 AMG. Both my roadsters now have matching AMG 030 wheels!

Why not go for the real deal and pick the forged AMG Performance wheels (see pic)? I just purchased them for my SL55. Need to be painted black though. I wouldn't want any AMG replica crap on my ride.

Will post pics once they're painted and mounted.

The wheels I just purchased are the real deal and no AMG replica crap. The AMG IV 2 piece is only available on the SL65 AMG or CLS, SLK, and SL AMG's with the Performance Packages through AMG. They come in standard and aggressive offsets (ET25/F-ET28/R) with 19x10 rear wheels which is what I was looking for.

The wheels you have pictured are the newer style 19" AMG IV 1 peice which only come in standard offsets (ET30/F-ET31/R) and 19x9.5 rear wheels.

Absolutely.

I'm sorry. My post wasn't addressed at you but more of a reply to the initial post, where 20" AMG replica wheels where hailed. I should've made that clear.

However, talking about offsets: The 25/28 are the standard offsets for the CLS, while the 30/31 offsets are the standard for the R230.

The forged AMG performance wheel I posted above is also available with a 25/28 offset for the CLS. At least here in Germany. I decided to go with the 30/31 though... If I'm not happy with it, I could still add spacers, ...but I doubt it.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Um, just to keep the balance here....

the "AMG performance wheels" as you call them are not exactly the finest quality. The fact that they are expensive doesn't make them fabulous. They are heavy, the finish is, to me, totally unacceptable for a wheel that costs that much money(between two cars, I had 3 wheels replaced under warranty for finish problems--the paint work is ridiculous), and frankly, they don't run that true. It's not like they are made by MB or AMG--most were made by Ronal, a good mid level wheel company, in Poland by fine Polish craftsmen. I'm not saying that they are crap, but neither are a lot of these copy wheels. I've been in and out of the industry for nearly 30 years (before many of you were born). In the old days, we would laugh at copy or Asian wheels. The quality level now is amazing for the price. I agree, I would love to have a set of some of those super high quality wheels that folks have here. But $6000 or more for a set? Are they that much better?
Your decision for your car, just my .02.

Actually, it's not what "I call them", but it's the name MB/AMG has given them. They are the forged version of the well known AMG five spoke Styling IV wheels.

Sorry, but all of that is utter nonsense. I'm pretty sure we're not talking about the same wheels here. First off, they aren't produced by Ronal (or some other "mid level wheel company"), but by FUCHS, which is one of the (if not THE) most renowned wheel manufacturer in GERMANY. Besides e.g. having an own aero-spatial product lineup, FUCHS also manufactures various exclusive factory OEM wheels for Maybach, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Porsche etc. All these cars come straigtht from the factory with FUCHS wheels on them. For more info about FUCHS, please visit:

I assume that the wheels I talked about are sold in the US for the same price as they are here in Germany. Looking at the current Euro/USD conversion rate, the wheels are more in the $9,000 range, than in the $6,000 range. Again... I assume that we're talking about different wheels here.

The AMG wheels are expensive and worthy because they are exclusive to AMG. Are they better performance wise? Hell No! The 2 piece AMG wheels I just purchased weigh in at an astonishing 36 lbs. EACH!! But I didn’t buy them for pure performance, that’s why I’m keeping my HRE’s. I bought them for their amazing looks and to have authentic AMG wheels as backups.

And if these wheels slow me down then people will be able to see them better!

OK.

Thanks for that useful information. You must be right, we must not be talking about the same item. I haven't yet been wrong today, but it's early...

If in fact these new performance wheels are made by Fuchs, then I'm sure they are first quality. You don't need to tell me about Fuchs--I have been riding on them since I purchased my first 911 (of approximately 30) in 1975. I suspect most people on this thead did not have thier driving license then.

I do still contend however, and I'm guessing you'd agree as the poster above--that the 19" Split Spoke wheels, forged or not, as provided by AMG in the middle/late 2000's was not their finest hour. Perhaps this has been recitifed with the new wheels. Hope so. Cars that cost this much money should come with wheels that are light, strong, and round. Those wheels I was speaking of don't have any of those qualities.

I am simply saying that there are LOTS of wheels in this thread, and that price is not always an indicator of quality. I'm witih ou on that--there is LOTS of stuff pcitured herethat I wouldn't put on my nice R230.

OK, old man is out now. Flame on.

True... and that might also be the reason, why MB/AMG gave the job to Fuchs. Because the current generation of forged AMG wheels are the first wheels they've ever done for AMG.

Fuchs has done a couple of other, not-so-exclusive, but legendary solid wheels for MB in the past, but none for AMG so far. And with the current generation of AMG wheels, only the high end wheels are done by Fuchs, while the AMG non-forged (cast) wheels are still done by some other company. Maybe RH or Ronal. Didn't check. I've heard that they also work with a company in Italy on the standard AMG wheels.

Here's a list of the wheels Fuchs creates for AMG. Overall it's only 4 different sets:
http://www.fuchsfelge.de/index.php?id=85

And here's a list of (not so bling-bling) standard MB wheels, Fuchs has done for Mercedes in the past. You'll recognize a lot of familiar designs on this list:

And about that "age thing": I'll be celebrating my 40th tomorrow. So I guess I'm neither a youngster, nor an old man... yet.

They look a little too ghetto for me. I will pass on taking risks. Where are these made ? China ?
Would sure hate to find out how they perform when doing a hard canyon run at high speed here in So Cal.
Nothing like the real thing. Real SL65 Wheels were made for these cars and their weight and performance specs.

Thanks.

Can you take some close up pics?
