Talking SL55 At The Track

I took my SL55 to Nelson Ledges this past weekend, the car is amazing. It takes the turns flat & with confidence, I was running in the 1 minute 21 second range not pushing the car or my luck.

This was the first time at the track I did not get passed, I did do alot of passing other cars.
To be fair I had the most HP on the track, that helped!

The C32 AMGs ran at about the same pace, I could not catch the skilled drivers in the C32s nor could they catch me in the time we were on the track.

It was great fun, you have to take the SL55 on the track to understand how technology can move a 4400 pound car around a 13 turn track with such confidence and speed.

The corner workers called the SL55 "The Beast" because of the sound it makes accelerating out of the turns.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself at the track. How would you characterize the interior noise level in "The Beast" when you were really pushing it? I am probably correct in assuming that you had the top up, right? What was your maximum speed down the straightaway?

Thanks for the report

Enjoyed the vicarious experience even to the sound of the exhaust as you came out of the turns.

Maximum speed was 125-130MPH on the track I was braking early for saftey and less wear on on the brakes. I was exiting turns at 100MPH with ease.

You have to drive with the drivers window down at Nelson Ledges so you can give hand signals, so all you can listen to is engine and wind plus a helmut is on your head.

I had the SL55 at 140MPH with the windows up it felt like 90MPH and sound was like 70MPH this is an amazing machine.

My friend test drove a 2003 911 C4 and got to 115MPH in the same area he took my SL55 to 140MPH! 140 came up alot faster than in the non turbo 911 C4 manual

An empty straight road with no one to hurt but my friend and I, he was driving, I would not have taken the chance with the Police.

It was at 140MPH with such ease that I did not stop him, It was scary how normal 140MPH felt!
