any idea on what wheel and size combo you are gonna go for?

I am very excited to see how your project progresses
What color do you plan on painting it? keeping it black i hope
I am planning on going 20x10 front and 21x12.5 in the rear with the 375/20/21 tire.

Parts are Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) with carbon fiber accents.

Today I went to DTM Autobody to get the final measurements for the new iForged Concave wheels that we will be debuting at SEMA. I am so shocked on how fast they installed the body panels. The rear quarters and the rear bumper are now on the car. A few more days of prepping and sanding to make sure all the lines and gaps are nice and the car will be ready for primer.

The wheels seem uncentered (in pic 1).
Will this be corrected or is the camera angle giving it the illusion of being off center?

BASF Glasurit paint supplies have arrived at DTM Autobody. BASF sent over their primer, base coat, clear and hardeners. I have been using BASF paint since 2005 with the first widebody Porsche project and have never used another supplier. I am a big fan of their quality products. I am keeping the actual paint color under wraps until later this month. The color will definitely blow you guys away.

The headlights, front grill, new led taillights have arrived from the Mercedes parts dept. Anyone looking for the best prices on OEM Mercedes parts you guys need to contact parts.com. I was able to get 40% off retail for the factory parts. DTM Autobody has started aligning all the body panels. By the end of this week, they will have the rear quarters cut and molded and start molding on the rear wing to the trunk. 4 weeks to the big show and so much left to do.

time is tight! Can't wait to see the color reveal! What was the material on the panels? Fiberglass? And how are they making the panels line up?
looking good so far!

I wasn't told they had perfected the rear trunk spoiler/wing? The one on Prototype SL55 was sculpted/sanded from I believe Polystyrene? or possibly Polyurethane Foam.

Both need to be glassed w/resins & layers of fiberglass cloth. Epoxy resin has to be used if Polystyrene foam core is used, it would be my pick for Auto part as Epoxy resin sets-up much harder.

W/Polyurethane foam you can use either Epoxy resin or Polyester resins. The difference with PU foam it's easier to shape/manipulate into desired form, slightly heavier, where Polystyrene is lighter but much harder to shape etc.. & gives a more durable end product so I'm sure they're using Polystyrene & Epoxy resins

Both types are used by my Family's business in Surf/Sail/boards etc, so is this set in stone for all our kits? I def want it, the reg sl63 spoiler I have now aint gonna cut it vs this much nicer Blk series looking piece..Thanks for the updates!

PS BASF paint is quality product, I'm getting BASF too

I actually sent the lights up to https://lightwurkz.com in San Francisco. They are taking apart the headlights painting the inside matte black and putting leds around each projector. They will be shipping it back overnight on Thursday so I will have them on Friday. I know we are working on some really tight deadlines.

Here is a photoshop of what it will look like when done.

Thanks to Pirelli for supplying the massive steam rollers that just came in today.

Pirelli P Zero Nero

Front
275/30/20

Rear
375/20/21

That is not a typo 375 rear width. They are insanely WIDE!!! I thought my tires were wide back in 2005 when we fitted 355/25/19 on my blue Porsche widebody but these tires take it to the next level.

Anyone know where to buy SL65 black series type of exhaust tips?

Looking at this picture it looks like the tips might be sold separately

Some more pictures from Lightwurkz of the headlight housings taken apart. In total there will be 16 leds in each headlight forming small rings of light around the highbeam and lowbeam, similar to the factory headlights on my Range Rover Fullsized.

Each led hole is drilled into the housing and then carefully installed by hand. Lightwurkz is using the smaller 3mm LEDs as the normal 5mm do not fit into the tight spaces of the SL Housing.

The pieces need one more color sand and buff and then another few coats of paint. After the parts are dry the headlight will be reassembled. I should have them back next Tuesday. I can't wait to see them in action.

Example of the leds on my Range Rover headlights
