Pulled the trigger...

Well, it didn't take too long to find exactly what I was looking for. She arrives on Friday or Sat of next week. 2006 SL65 all options accept for the distronic and 12,000 miles MB certified! Bought an extended warrantee, it's called Optimum Preferred, anyone had any expericane with this company? I'm having a clear bra installed before she ships and I've already bought CF interior trim to replace the wood trim (thanks Maxabo).

Planning on straight pipes, but would love to hear a sound clip if anyone has one or maybe Eisiman exhaust (race).

Here are some pictures the salesman took, I'll post more when she arrives.

Todd

Great buy! The SL65 rims are the bomb (they are now on my E55) and still would be on the 65 if not for my darth maul look I was gunning for on the 65! Think about maybe color matching your front grill with the titanium look of the SL65 rims.

Jon...'DarthMaul' would be a perfect license plate for you!!! That term just captures the essence of your car in one simple phrase!

Looks just great Todd!
The darker cf will suit perfectly as a contrast to your light interior!
For me it was the other way around.
Since I have black leather, I wanted aluminum trim instead.

Agree on the yellow sidemarkers! Sits there like a pimple!
That's how we directly can tell it's a US-imported car here...
But it's a considerable low effort it takes to have that done!

About straight piping;
Since mine was just as quiet straight piped as it was stock (yes, it shocked us too, since I've done several 600's with great results), I think ANY exhaust with a muffler/silencor will sound NOTHING more than stock.
To make it sound anything louder than stock, I think you need to do something about the cats, like race cats or so...

I'll make a sound clip/video for you today when I hop out of bed in a couple of hours!
As I said, straight pipes ALL THE WAY (complete cat deletion), and I'm just loving it..!

As promised;
http://www.garaget.org/video/zd5nrmyohbdn

Please just excuse my old Low Tech pocket-camera!
Have indulgence with the sound representation/quality it reproduces...

In reality the car does not have that "60's-car-gurgling-tone" as IMHO it makes here...
It's actually somewhat more "empty-metal-kinda-sounding" and sharper in reality!
Especially at full throttle!
I'll see if I can come up with a drive-by sound or something later...

2008 MB CLK Black Series
OMG, that sounds absolutely fantastic!!!! Although that's very similar to how my CLK Black Series sounds, and my wife hate's it, I kind of told her the reason I wanted an SL65 is that it was a more quite than the BS so she will drive in it every now and then when I want to take it to the Wine Country.

Yes, the yellow bulbs will go, already have the solaris mirrored bulbs to replace with.

Car still hasn't been shipped, should ship on Monday and receive on Friday....I'll post pictures.

Thanks guys.
Yes, I put the new rear bumper there because I love that diffusor-look!
But instead of black grating, I went for aluminum, so it's more visable.

The tips are stock, and came out -07, and so did the car.
My car acctually had other tips when I bought it, so I had to by half an exhaust-system from the MB-dealer to get a hold of these tips...
But it was sooo worth it, because I acctually think they look like a piece of art up close!

Great looking ...

65. Marshall Goldman always has nice quality stuff. Just an admin note, you are aware that your MB CPO is/was no longer active once another dealer's name appears in the chain....No matter, as long as you've got the other warranty on board. I would love to find one of these cars too, but nice examples are drying up Good find....

Awesome buy! I love it. The plan for mods sounds perfect. Take some pics with the carbon interior in place and such!
