Correct Offset

Well be having issue with my wheels ruding for sometime now and mercedes tech didn't know why. I had a tire shop look at my vehicle and they said if shouldn't be hitting they're the same hight as the OEM..but read somewhere on the forums about the offset, so had a appt for my A ser. at the dealer and had them take the wheel off to look on the back and it say the rim is 20x10 23ET so I'm guessing the 23 is the offset and what I have on the vehicle now is 245/35/20 fornt / 285/30/20 rear. So what is the corect offset you all are running without any ruding. I was think about having the body shop roll the fender. Thanks for any info.

And tryed search but for some reason it not bring any thing back with, tire, tire size or wheel..not forsure why tonight.

+1.

You want a 26" tire diameter. Those tires are close to 27".

Not sure because when I when to the tire shop they look them up and they where the same hight as the OEM..so I'm thinking the offset is wrong in the rear..

Most people run 255/30/20 front and 295/25/20 or 305/25/20 rear. 35 and 30 ratio tires are just too tall for 20" wheel on an SL.

I'm sorry to say this but the tire shop simply goofed. Standard tire sizes for an SL55 are 255/40R18 and 285/35R18 both of which have 26" diameters.

Check out forum sponsor TireRack's recommendations for 20" wheels and you'll see they are also 26" in diameter or close to it.

As far as offset goes, the standard offset for a 9.5" wheel on an R230 is low 30s. A 10" wheel has another 12mm to deal with so the correct offset is mid 20s. Your offset of 23mm is right in line with what it should be.

Hope that info helps.

The tire shop show me in the book that the OEM 19 had a 26" and the one I have on also had a 26"...I look at the OEM 19x10 31ET..I just don't want to spend another $400 ea on tires and still have the rud if that the wrong offset..just trying to see what other offset they are running with the 295 or 305 in the rear..thx

I have Michelin PS2 245/35/20 (26.8" tall) on 8.5x20 front and 285/30/20 (26.9" tall) on 10.5x20 rear with no rubbing.

Sorry, I'm not sure what my offsets are, but the correct size 35 and 30 series 20" tires can fit with no rubbing with the right offsets.

Next I'm going with Pirelli PZero Corsa System 295/30/20 (27" tall) rear which will be tight, but should fit.

I guess I'm confused. In your initial post I thought you wrote your tires were 245/35-20 front and 285/30-20 rear. The diameter size on those tires is 26.8", not 26.0". But no matter.

I posted an R230 fitment table a while back: https://mbworld.org/forums/4021157-post5.html.

The table shows a 19x10 ET28 AMG wheel as a confirmed fit. There are confirmed fitments for 31mm offsets but those are for 9.5" wide AMG wheels.

My winter wheels are 18x10 ET 25 running 285/35-18 tires. No rubbing issues.

That is correct my wheel are that size..but I may have a quick fixed fot it I had my body guy roll my fender today and drove about 90mhp and no rudding. It about time in a few more weeks to put my OEM 19amg back on for the snow. Oh my OEM size is F-8.5x19 et30 & R-9.5x19 et31.
