evosport - New Development on Cooling Upgrades (Top Mounted Intercoolers)
Hey all, this post is in reply to the numerous comments that evosport has moved on from the 55k platform. Well, that could not be further from the truth. We have just been focused on some serious upgrades as we have already covered all the easy ones.
So, here we go....
Announcing our next cooling upgrade - The evosport evo2 Cooling Package. This is more commonly refered to as Top Mounted Intercoolers or SLR-Style Coolers
![](http://evosport.com/public/dev/evosport_55k_tmc2.jpg)
![](http://evosport.com/public/dev/evosport_55k_tmc1.jpg)
We have flow tested the lower splitter for any turbulence or resonance issues, and I will be posting that info shortly.
This package will be a direct upgrade for those with our evo1 Cooling Package or as a stand-alone complete upgrade.
We will have the first article on a member's SL55 (Hi Havoc) this fall.
Stay tuned for more updates!
Thanks
Brad

65 COOLING UPGRADES NEEDED!!!
Brad - the new 55 intercoolers are Gorgeous! Too bad I just traded my E55 in on an 06 SL65, or I would have a pair of those!
Your EVO cooling upgrade was easily the single best upgrade I ever made to the 55. I really want to improve the cooling on my newly acquired 65, but the options are limited. I know RennTechs package will do the trick, but it is awfully pricey. Eurocharged makes a great looking and reasonably priced heat exchanger, but hasn't completely ironed out the fabrication of brackets for installation.
Your 55 cooling kit was such a simple nut and bolt installation - my SA said it was a breeze to install. It is HIGHLY effective and VERY reasonably priced.
Is there ANY chance EVO could cobble up a set of brackets to mount the heat exchanger from your 55 package into the nose of an SL65/SL600????? You already have the hoses, fittings, heat exchangers, and Johnson pumps on the shelf. If so, I would order a kit yesterday.

PDC - Thanks for the kind words. Check your PM.
FYI, for the 65, we DO have a few kits in development, so stay tuned!

Looks very impressive Brad! ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The new evosport evo2 Cooling Package looks very professional. This is by far the single most needed mod for the 55K.
Can't wait to see them on my car!![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
Awesome design bro!

Very nice! I can't wait to see what you come up with for the 600/65. As PDC stated, I would love a nice bolt on cooling upgrade for the V12, though a top mount like seen here would be a dream come true!

Here is a quick update. This is the final version and CNC programming begins next week. First articles will be out very soon!

I will have some flow update info shortly as well.
Again, to restate a few facts:
- This system will reuse ALL factory sensors
- This system has cooler cores rated to over 1200 HP
- This will be a complete system with air filter
Thanks
Brad

Great question and I too would like to see a comparison between Evosport's and the SLR's TMC. They should install these on an SLR to see the difference! ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
I heard the SLR also suffers from heat soak and I wonder if it's cooler cores are rated to over 1200 HP. And unlike the SLR's, Evosport's coolers have hood clearance and should be way cheaper.

Some pressure and flow info:
![](http://www.evosport.com/public/dev/evosport_55k_tmc6.jpg)
![](http://www.evosport.com/public/dev/evosport_55k_tmc7.jpg)
![](http://www.evosport.com/public/dev/evosport_55k_tmc8.jpg)
As you can see the pressure drop is VERY small across this splitter. In fact, it is only .0001 lb/in*2 across the entire piece.
This splitter will allow for very effective flow, allowing for very small losses at the most critical piece - the splitter.
Thanks
Brad

good to see you went through that much testing. I am most impressed by how clean they look, almost a mod for looks as much as performance

So we spent a little more time refining the design with the aim of truly optimizing the performance.
Here are the last of the flow graphs:

CNC programming is done. Material is being cut next week!
Thanks

So this cooling mod will be great for back to back runs, but will do little for one hard pull, correct? Will it keep IATs down and thus protect old number 8 or will number 8 still be toast after running lean long enough. I'm talking stage 3 or nearly stage 3 modded 55s here.
