Hey Guys and Gals,
Just hit Service A on my SL and have no clue as to how to reset it. Any help would be awesome. I have to change the oil and stuff, but is there anything else? Also, when I purchased the vehicle, the dealer told me I needed new bushings and control arms for the suspension. I've held out for a few months. Needless to say, I took it to a foreign auto mechanic that is pretty reputable and they said I needed a whole new suspension. Any thoughts on this? The dealer was inspecting the vehicle and it passed in NY. If anyone would have pushed an whole new suspension, I'd think the dealer due to being out of warranty and all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

search on how to reset the comp
service a is just an oil change and some visual checks
you passed inspection because your lower ball joints were good and that is the only aspect of the front suspension (along with wheel bearing play) that can have you rejected. technically the dealer might rejected you for worn out front suspension, but since in your case was not a safety issue (yet) they let you slide...
on a more negative note- the sl amg cars are heavy. whatever problem you have especially in the front will deteriorate quickly and prolly will drag more things to be replaced along the way if given enough time.

Thanks for your help...so should I just fix what the dealer suggests for now or replace the suspension? Thanks again. Appreciate the help

take your car to another dealer and seek 3rd opinion (they will charge you an hour at approx $140/hour)Originally Posted by Wettig10

than make your decision.
alternatively you can do what the first dealer said needs to be done and take it from there.
