If your abc- equipped front end clunks...

It is one of three things.

1. Your lower ball joint(s) need replacement. Mine went at 35k miles

2. Your front radius arm bushing(s) needs replacement.

3. Your shock is making the noise. Before you replace it check the large square nut on the top of the shock (the one just under the 3-wire sensor) for tightness. You can get a spanner wrench there and make sure it is tight.

That is all.

Useful often overlooked advice.

Yes.While 1 and 2 are common sense and can be troubleshot with a pry bar fairly easy, number 3 happens surprisingly often and is impossible to identify by poking and prying. I don't know why, but those square nuts tend to loosen themselves somehow on certain shocks.
