New member with Allocation question...
Hey guys,
The corporate leases on our M5 and 740iL are going to be up in July '04. Thinking about a SL55 for one of the replacements.
I have a limited knowledge of MB (I have been a BMW loyalist for many year). However, I think that it is time for a change, and I really like the styling of the SL55 (especially since the Z8 has been discontinued).
Anyway, how long is the typical wait to order a car to specifications? I have over a year, so I don't mind having to wait. Is it possible to get MSRP, or are all the dealers charging a markup?
Anyone have any good experiences with the MB dealership in the Scottsdale Airpark?

if you have that much lead time you probably shouldn't have a problem. MB appears to be building SL55s at a much faster pace than was originally expected. my dealer is getting 2X to 3X more cars than they projected last fall. imo, most of the wait lists will be cleared out by the time your leases are up.

I think most dealerships only charge over sticker if the car is used. I currently have an '03 CL55, my SL55 is being delivered in early Sept. I have owned many benz's before those and I have never been asked to pay over sticker on car I ordered. I don't know if you will be able to get a new one in a year--not sure how long the wait is now.
