SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: first headache

first headache
On saturday i managed to get a nail in my rear tire. it was in the sidewall and i knew the tire was scrap. The tire went flat in my garage and after reading the manual i decided to use the repair kit that comes with the car so i could drive it to the dealer which is nearby. BIG MISTAKE. the kit worked well and sealed the leak so yesterday i took the car to the dealer. while changing the tire the dealer informed me that the pressure monitoring sensor has to be changed and that i should not have used that stop leak goop. in canadian dollars it was an expensive flat. tire 500.00, sensor 225.00 plus labor. mercedes may cover the sensor due to the fact that there is not warning not to use the kit if you have the pressure monitoring system. it all seems kind of silly to me. no spare and a leak repair kit that they now recommonend not to use. i guess you just sleep in the car until help arrives. dumb

PS i must say that after 1300 kilometers i have no problems with the car at all except for this flat. still love it.

Fully agree with your comments. Without a spare and just the tire kit, it is the only alternative. If the sensor breaks in the process, I expect Mercedes to cover it (and I am sure they will).
At least it's good to hear that the kit actually works, which is what really matters

A little arithmetic shows Mercedes spare parts prices are a rip-off - the complete option only costs about 4 times what you paid for the sensor, and that also includes all the electronics in the car itself to pick and process the radio signals from the sensor. But I guess we knew that, didn't we?
