Servicing sucks

My 63 has only done 12k and now it's 4th service is due, it's a B service.
When I look through what a B service on a low mileage car it's all ..check
this and check that.. with an oil and filter, but they want £599 ($976 )
just to check. There is no service book to stamp, they say it goes on
computer, but what if you have another garage service it using genuine
parts, it's quite legal, how do they make a record of it, at Mercedes

2004 SL55
I just had my SL55 with 11,000 miles in for "A" service and state inspection last week. It was my first experience with Mercedes since I just bought the car in September.

Reading these forums, I was bracing for the worst, but my total bill for A service, state inspection and emission, and replacing a bushing on the transmission was $480.

Not as bad as I thought it would be.

A service

You have to look around for a qualified mercedes mechanic. I am fortunate because there is one nearby that forced the local Mercedes Dealer to bend over. Dealer now charges $220 for A service. Local guy is B service $180 and $190 for a brake fluid change. Now when you go down to see the local guy you don't get the fancy coffee and if you wait there is not a color tv and you will have to get you own car washed after the service cause he doesn't do that either. Guess the point is that competition is the key, now the dealer has changed his policy so that any part you have replaced is covered as long as you own the car. That's parts and labor!!
Good luck.

I don't mind paying for parts, it's when they just check something. I could
get it done in a non Mercedes dealers for much less, but you don't get
that Mercedes stamp. There is no book to stamp anymore, is that the same
for your car, particularly if it's under 3 years old. Then there's the warranty,
my car hasn't put a foot wrong, is it worth paying a grand for a years
extended warranty.

I was in for the B service and my tech said I would be fine with just a A service.

The trouble is if it comes up on your instument cluster that it needs a
B service and you have an A service won't that count against you for warranty and resale.

I did what the dealer tech recommended, how could that count against me? It should come up as service completed

modoindustries, are you going to take extended warranty when your 3 years are up, I have 4 months to decide, so far she's been fault free.

Ouch! when I look through the glass to the MB workshop, it never looks busy.
Remember the minute the mechanic takes your car the labour clock is ticking.
What's a service history worth after 3 years
I just had my C class stolen, my son in law left the keys in it while he stopped for a wee, gone! So I just bought another, I asked if it had full
MB service, yes I was told, a couple of days after the car was delivered I looked at the service book, only 1 MB service, and 4 non MB. When I phoned the Mercedes dealer he said after 3/4 years it really doesn't matter.
