I have been reading the different threads regarding spare tires for SL55s. I need your help. I ordered a part number 211 400 31 95 from parts.com Thank you to the forum for recommending this site. I was able to pick up all the parts required to prepare the trunk area for the spare. The spare arrived today and its a 17 inch spare. The spare in my old SL was a 175/55-18. This is a 17. The MB dealer that sold it to me said this is the correct tire for the 211 400 31 95 part number and also states it's a spare for an SL55. This spare would not clear my front caliper if my flat was in the front. Can anyone shed some light so I can go back to the dealer with some sort of intelligent answer?

Check Vredestein's website for contact info and ask them for Mercedes part # or spare dimensions if possible...they make the spare for MB..........hopefully that will help some...

Look under my member name on the bay. I had one for my 06 sl65 that will clear your brakes too. It is 19". I also show the part numbers. I hate parts guys that don't know what they are taking about. The tire is by verde stein. The wheel is stamped AMG and made by ronal
