i live in los angeles also.. and was looking to upgrade my audio system in my CL65..... few questions
did the keep the factory amp in the car and adapt the new amps together?
which shop did you use?
also for the 8 inch jl sub, im not sure where the factory sub is located in a SL but are you using this sub as a replacment/ direct bolt in? becuase my factory sub is in my rear deck, so i though i could just drop in the sub like your jl audio you have ( free air set up )

Thanks for the info, guys.
The head unit looks really nice... and I also like the touchscreen. But if I can't use it plug-and-play with my OEM Bose system, then that's a No-No for me.

where did they mount the GPS antenna??
after determining the Denison for my 2003 will not do much of the functions I wanted (like bluetooth), I decided to go all the way and do the full replacement surgery myself. There are actually seven speaker connections in this car. front door has mids and tweeters (4), center of dash and rear center (2) and subwoofer under passenger floor. So I bought (2) 4 channel amps, used 6 for regular speakers and bridged the last two for the sub. Ripped out the factory Bose CD changer and amplifier (all under rear compartment behind driver seat). Ran 4 channel audio cable and amp turn on wire through center console. I am using Boss PH2KD.4 amps because they (a) are very small and (b) the have low pass, high pass filters, freq cutoff adjustments, along with treble and bass boost all adjustable per two channels so you can really tweek the power and range getting to each speaker set. Car is totally apart still but the sound so far is awesome. Way more power that factory I believe. Steering controls work! Good news - the couplers they supply do directly connect to the factory harnesses. had to splice one wire (to actuate amplifiers) in harness, but no more.
Right now I am frustrated trying to find a way through the firewall so i can mount the GPS antenna in the air intake at the back of the hood (do not want it stuck to the dash if possible). Any help or ideas appreciated!!

Enclosed are the seat pictures. The complete interior panels and carpets were painted black and the seats were recovered. The upholstery shop has the template for the seats, so he can ship them or if you are in so cal he can install them in 1 day. if any of you want to do this, pm me.

Thank you very much. Great Job on your SL65 redo - big difference between the factory look and that. My car actually very similar, but with single slat grill, i had to change the front emblem because it disturbs the distronic. I love the comfort and the look of the seats. I also blacked out the complete interior - No more Grey for me. True Black on Black, the way it should have come from the factory!

Kingnash, My abc pump went out, so I had it replaced under the aftermarket warranty. The roof pump turned out to work but there was a leak in the pipes, so they landed up by replacing them under warranty as well. The headliner had lots of oil, but warranty refused to pay, so i had it dry cleaned and it took care of it!

Love the look of your SL55. I have a 2003 SL55 AMG that I am considering upgrading with the cargpsnet aftermarket navigation unit that I believe you have. Now that you've had it for a couple months, what are your impressions of it? Can you play A2DP bluetooth audio while navigating?
If you were able to, a short Youtube video demo of the navigation interface on the unit would be great to see.
