Standing half-mile event video
On Saturday I attended this event at an old Air Force base. The main runway is over 2 miles long since it used to accommodate B-52s but we couldn't use it since it is now used commercially. Fortunately, next to it is a shorter runway which was used by U2s at night!
Was pretty fun. Most people were going solo, but some went heads up every now and then. A lot of the cars were tuned. The orange wrapped SL55 was stock and it ran 130 mph while we did 143 mph. It was great to finally be able to compare our work versus stock, side-by-side. The fastest car was a GTR which did 177 mph but it had about $80,000 worth of work put into it. Overall, we ran above average and where the fastest Mercedes except for the SLS which, surprisingly to me, only ran about 5 mph faster than we did. We were even quicker than the CLK Black series and new C 63 group with RennTech ECU flash. We did one run with the tuned, yellow M3 you see in the beginning of the video, and we finished about 6 car lengths ahead.
There is another event in March and I'm hoping they make it 3/4 of a mile. Ideally, we would like to do a full mile, but the issues would be stopping these heavily tuned GTRs and late-model Porsches (a heavily modded 930 did 170 mph and started to drift from his lane due to the 20 knot headwind) from 200 mph.

My neighbor told me of this event on Saturday afternoon, however I was not invited to this private event. Maybe next will have the opportunity to take 2 of my cars.
BTW I live 30 minutes away from Aguadilla.
