SL55: Buzzing from the Trunk
My early SL55 has developed a buzzing noise from the trunk area when the engine is idling after a period of normal running. It sounds like a cross between a chain saw and a high-revving motorcycle being blipped.

Anyone know what this might be?

Sounds like the fuel pump to me.

Yes, I think you are right, there's something called the lifter pump which may be the culprit.

1980 SL 450< 2003 SL 55
I have just noticed a buzzing sound from the trunk when I am at a stop sign (idle), and it speeds up a bit once i start going, then seems to dissapear once I get going....is this the fuel pump?
