exact wait on an SL55
Hey guys,
I just got on the waiting list for an SL55 and holy cow, it is one long wait. For being number 10 on the list, my dealer said I have to wait a whopping 2 1/2 years. The car is surely worth the wait but does anyone else have similar list positions and wait times??? Just curious to see where everyone is on the list and how long they've been told their wait is going to be.

i'm about number 10 on my dealer's list. they're estimating that they'll be allocated almost one per month. so my working assumption is that i'll be spec'ing my car mar 2003 or thereabouts (though you know how these lists shift and shrink, which is good).
remember - the allocations are based roughly on gross unit sales. i'm in the northeast where SLs are less popular than they are, say, in FL or CA. so a comparably sized dealer will apparently get the same number of cars - even if their demand isn't as high.

Keep cool, they promise to increase the delevery of such car.
As an example, for europe, my dealer told me if I was able to order in october, the car will be delivered to me THIS month !
Bad side of the story I was not able to order in october
Another example, when I did order my SLK320, the guy told me I had 6 months (order May, deliver December) delay, I fact I get the SLK delivered beginning of November (I save 2 months) . So..
Pretty sure you will get it faster, around 12-16 months.
