Track day brake pads for SL55 AMG
Can anybody recommend track day brake pads for a stock 2003 SL55 AMG?
I'm not a track newbie (10 years of track days in a 2002 Audi TT, instructor for Audi Club events), but the SL55 is a new addition to my garage. This week I took it to VIR using EBC Yellowstuff pads. They performed great -- no complaints there. However, by the second afternoon, the pads were totally gone -- right down to the metal.
Is there any set of race or track day pads that will last longer than one event on these cars?
I know, I know -- the SL55 is heavy, and VIR is a demanding track. I'm an aggressive track driver, and I could reduce brake wear by learning better pedal modulation. Fresh rotors would probably help extend pad life. I know all these things. Still, it seems excessive to devour $350 worth of brake pads in eight 20-minute track sessions, so I'd welcome recommendations from other track drivers.
Thanks!
Chris
