Nearly caught.

Has anybody left their car with the roof down in the rain. Our weather has
been lousy, hardly time to put the roof down, however the other day was quite nice so I went to work with the roof down. Whilst working a guy came
in my office and said it's raining. I dashed out and luckily it was drizzling, but
the interior was quite wet, but I got a couple of towels and dried her up.
Has anybody accidental left their roof down in a storm. You are more lightly
to in California than here, but how much can it take before it's ruined.
I have always wondered.

happen to me many times - with little effect, as long as you wipe it down and make sure to maintain your normal leather conditioning.

A couple of years ago, I left the top down on my SL while going into a home improvement store. I hop back in my car and learn that my battery is dead. I try jumping it, but no go. I end up having the car towed to the dealership. It is Saturday night in the middle of summer in Indiana. The weather was the typical hot humid air that can spawn a thunderstorm at almost anytime. These storms can create local deluges. I find a store that is still open and buy a tarp and some rope. I cover my car and do my best to tie down the car. It is now 1 AM. I thought about spending the night in my ML on the dealership lot next to my SL. I decide to go home instead.

That morning (Sunday), I drive to the dealership to check on the SL. By some rare stroke of luck, I see the owner of the dealership standing in front of my SL with a puzzled look on his face. I explained the situation and we pushed the car into his garage so it would be safe until they could look at it Monday morning. What an ordeal. It never did rain that night so I lucked out.

On the W211, I believe there is a hidden option in SDS to auto-close the sunroof if the rain-sensing wipers detect rain, with the car off. At least, that's what I think I think...

I wonder if there is a similar option for the R230 to close the roof, when the rain-sense wipers detect rain. Hmmmmmm

I close my roof always. Last thing I want is a **** hawk dropping a bomb in my interior. Also wish to protect the interior from the sun baking it.
