SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Upcoming C2Design/AMGfan Wide Body Build
#226
Totally impressed with your patience and attention to details. I plan on doing a bs conversion this month. You certainly have raised the bar with this build. I can't do everything you have done but gonna take a few ideas from your build. Keep it up
And again great work

Jon...
I remember an older thread when you had just finished ADV1setup & myriad of other cosmetic mods lighting/caliper paint etc.. The drop back then is what I'm after, looked like 1 thin flat finger thickness gap beween top of tire & bottom of fender at all (4) corners? Is the car drivable at this setting, or do you need to raise it to Sport I or II?
My problem is I can't seem to find the sweet spot & would really appreciate any/all help I've employed both lowering link washer method coupled to Star Diag lowering. Most the problems are w/REAR (nothings broken or in need of maintenance, just had her in to diagnose this exact issue) When we get the rear at 1 finger thickness all around, it is a FLAT
Hoopty if driven on ANY slightly uneven surface & now the rub, even if I put suspension in Sport I/II it still rides like krap vs a good full inch gap in rear WTF?
My best guess is the mechanical aspect of employing lowering links washer method is the reason/problem? I'm wondering hoping? If using STOCK links & JUST employ a proper Lowering Module is the trick? & if that is the answer, what Module would you recomend? Thnx for help & sorry for slight OT, though its still about how to get my cars stance spot on exactly like yours
Edit: hmm I dug up the exact pic etc.. Argh I remembered it lower, this height is what I have already
I want it lower like the rear sits NOW in this thread...
[/QUOTE]
Is the ride height in the rear drivable? Or at least drivable after selecting Sport I/II? Many thanks

Sean...I have the Kleeman lowering module with stock struts, shocks, etc...
At it's lowest setting, I never had issues with rubbing. I only really raised it to save the front lip from scraping.

Homestretch...I'll have some more pics tomorrow night. Interior is almost done...rear wing needs more rear deck reinforcement which they are working on. The rear diffuser has been fitted on the rear bumper and awaiting carbon fiber work.
The headlights are working, new head unit and rear camera wiring done, and new left front strut replaced. The OEM strut is expensive...
Shooting for my birthday to get finished...May 15.

The OEM solution on the wing posts further augments the beautiful angular lines of the Black Series, evoking a sense of speed even while standing still, they pinch the posts tightly making them a teardrop shape...

Looks great, you must be itching to get behind the wheel. Can we get a pic of the car/wing standing back a bit to get some perspective side on??
Just awesome

Stunning!!
With that much CF in the car are you also doing the door sills in CF? That should give a very similar look to the extended CF package on the SLS.
Couple of thoughts:
Update the plastic roof switch to the later aluminum version on the center console.
As mentioned before, the updated tail/brake lights would give it a crisper look. They do upgrade the back if the car.
Question:
The leather looks fantastic but I think it can soil very easily. Are you coating it in any way?

Wolfman...are the biggest difference on the updated tail lights the LEDs?
As far as the leather, we are reaching out to the leather source we got the Pagani leather from in Italy. A email is being sent on the proper treatment on it...but at this point we are sticking with some hide food or Lexol as a maintenance plan.
I'll take pics of what we did with the sills and the new lighting we did for the car.

Just an FYI...
If you can get a decent quality CF part that is already available get it...all the custom CF stuff we've done here is probably a bit more expensive than if it's already been done. Basically you won't save any money.
I went this route because we could control quality and turn around time.

I just bought a used gear shifter because I just noticed the weave isn't going the same way as the rest of the center console. Should be here Monday then we can put new leather on the boot and add CF on the shifter.
The rear tail lights will be coming too.

just to make it perfect perfect, if it's not too late, change the head rest to the later facelifted one, you can do w/o aircraft if you think the fan thingy at the back are non functional. or somehow make it functional, I'm sure you or your team can make it happen easily.
